I have made the following, well known confession my own and I share it with you. I am a Christian, a new creation in Christ. A minister of the new Covenant. I'm part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way rough, my companions few, my Guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me because my banner will be clear! Being a Christian is: not keeping a set of rules. not being baptized in water. not living a moral and ethical life. not trying to do your best. not just being a member of a church. Real Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ -- not outward rituals. 1 CORINTHIANS 1:9 NKJ 9 . . . you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. A real Christian is one who has received Jesus Christ, and acknowledges Him as Lord and God. ROMANS 10:9 NKJ 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. JOHN 1:12 NKJ 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name: Having Eternal Life Eternal life is a gift you get by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. Eternal life changes your nature, so that you will want to, and be able to, do right! JOHN 3:16 NRSV 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. ROMANS 6:23 NKJ 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 JOHN 5:11-12 NKJ 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1 JOHN 3:8-10 CEV 8 Anyone who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil. He has sinned from the beginning, but the Son of God came to destroy all that he has done. 9 God's children cannot keep on being sinful. His life-giving power lives in them and makes them his children, so that they cannot keep on sinning. 10 You can tell God's children from the devil's children, because those who belong to the devil refuse to do right or to love each other. 1 JOHN 3:14-15 NKJ 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. JOHN 5:24 CEV 24 I tell you for certain that everyone who hears my message and has faith in the one who sent me has eternal life and will never be condemned. They have already gone from death to life. It is not what you do, or don't do, that makes you a real Christian -- it is what you are on the inside. Only Jesus Christ can change you on the inside. Invite Him to come into your life today and He will!
